Normally, when someone writes a bulletin article about the Internet, we hear about all the bad things it has to offer. Sometimes, we focus so much on the negative aspects of the Internet that we miss the good that it has to offer. Not everything online is evil, and there are some things online that are positively holy and good. For example, every week we publish our bulletin articles on StonegateStandard.com. On this site, you can download files of the bulletin and print them from your home computer. If you happened to be sick or out of town, you can still get the bulletin, in color, and see all of the news concerning your brothers and sisters. Additionally, if there is an article that you particularly enjoyed and wanted to share with family and friends, you can e-mail them a copy of the article directly from the website. This is a great chance for us to spread the gospel of Christ with the click of a mouse button. Surely this is good! Another place you can go is ObeyHisCommands.com. You may have noticed that this website has been placed on our sign outside. This site is constantly updated with new material to present the gospel of Christ and teach the world that if we love God, we will obey him. Just like the other site, if there is an article that you like, you can download it, print it or e-mail it. Additionally, the literature that we create as a congregation, like the “Obey His Commands” booklet, is available online at this site. There are also Bible reading plans of varying lengths in the works, a discussion forum, and a link to a Bible blog that follows the yearly reading plan we are all using. This brings us to another site: BloggingtheBible.com. Daily updates to this site will follow our Bible reading plan. Comments can be made to each post by registered users to enhance the discussion and deepen our study of God’s word. What better way to meditate on the word of God every day than to study it with your brothers and sisters online? Surely this is a good thing! The rest of the sites I will mention are not affiliated with Stonegate in any way—they are, however, very useful for the purposes which they were designed. Www.Complete-Bible-Genealogy.com lists every person who is mentioned in the Bible and gives their complete genealogy. You can even download this site to your computer and use it offline. Www.Biblos.com is a site where you can read the Bible in several different translations, view commentaries and read from lexicons. It is very much like an online E-Sword. Www.BibleGateway.com allows you to search for words or passages in the Scriptures. You can even have entire chapters of the Bible read to you online. Www.Padfield.com is a site that has all different sorts of pictures and classroom books for Bible studies. Www.Bible.ca is a great site for all different sorts of information about the Bible. If we look carefully, the Internet is a tool that can just as easily and effectively be used for good as it can for evil.
